The elements of current energy concerns are sustainable business, climate change, efficient energy use and profitability. With speakers from Europe and across Africa, we draw on international examples from Tanzania and Germany. Jesper Vauvert from GIZ will share his experience of developing an energy-efficiency action plan for the Tanzanian Ministry of Energy and Minerals, while Dr Matthias Klatt of Brandenburg University of Technology will explain how renewable energy integration has affected the operation and efficiency of coal-fired power plants in his country. We’ll also see how the integrated energy efficiency policies for 10 Southern African countries compare and Chris Edeh from the Africa Sustainable Energy Association will show how renewable energy on the African continent will quadruple by 2030 to 22 percent, from the five percent it is today.

Climate change and the use of fossil fuels go together and one of the crucial uncertainties today is life after coal. Coenraad Pretorius from Anglo American will consequently introduce the Green Engine, which aims to create a central hub for facilities to work in together to create jobs and sustainable businesses, while cleaning up the environment. Zadok Olinga from Catalyst Solutions will also explain how companies can still thrive in an environment of changing carbon and energy legislation.

For those in search of financing, Thuthukile Mthethwa from the Technology Innovation Agency (TIA) will talk about how to secure financial and non-financial support for technology innovations within the energy sector in South Africa, while Kofi Amparbeng will  also discuss the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC)'s funding criteria for: clean energy projects; processes in assessing clean energy projects; funding structures; and special funding schemes.

The two days of the SAEEC2017 will not only host this fascinating complement of speakers on topics that will address every aspect of the industry but will also include an extensive exhibition area for delegates to browse.

The SAEEC2017 promises to bring the latest technology and innovation in energy efficiency to one destination in November. The first fifty delegates to register and pay stand a chance to win an energy efficiency prize worth more than R25,000.00. Book now to attend!
