Eskom regards load shedding as a last resort to balance electricity supply and demand across the country.

Eskom regards load shedding as a last resort to balance electricity supply and demand across the country.  As the difference between supply and demand becomes small, the system is referred to as becoming “tight”. This implies that Eskom has to take action to prevent the system from becoming unstable.
