2015SAEEC FOCUS
CPD – WHAT’S THE POINT?

The Southern African Association for Energy Efficiency provides a platform for professionals to contribute to the pool of knowledge within the energy efficiency sector, by sharing wisdom whilst gaining knowledge through a variety of opportunities available within the SAEE, earning Continued Professional Development (CPD) credits.

One such opportunity is for delegates attending the 2015SAEEC to qualify for 2 CPD credits.

The Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) defines CPD as "the systematic maintenance, improvement and broadening of knowledge and skills, and the development of personal qualities necessary for the execution of professional and technical duties throughout an engineering practitioner's career".

The Engineering Profession Act 46 of 2000 requires that registered practitioners and professionals have to renew their registration at regular intervals.  ECSA decided that the most appropriate way to implement the Act would be to link renewal of registration with CPD.

ECSA has designed a system of earning points or credits for professionals and practitioners. The system includes attendance at educational / academic courses, like the annual SAEEC, as well as work-based activities.  A minimum of 3 credits must be earned per year.

A total of 22 ECSA CPD credits can be earned by being involved in SAEE and AEE initiatives.

For more information on CPD points, visit the ECSA website www.ecsa.co.za

The SAEEC is a proud chapter of the AEE.
