The Southern African Association for Energy Efficiency (SAEE) Awards Programme annually recognises outstanding accomplishments of individuals and companies in the energy industry. The Awards are a token of recognition for the commitment to the profession; desire to further the association's mission, and participation in civic and community affairs. These prestigious Awards were presented at the Annual SAEE Banquet and Awards Ceremony on 11 November 2015 at Emperors Palace, Johannesburg. The event also marked the official opening of the SAEE’s annual flagship event, the Southern African Energy Efficiency Convention (2015SAEEC).
SAEE Service Award
- Awarded to an individual for special efforts within SAEE towards the functioning of the Association displaying loyalty, initiative and commitment.
- This award can be given to SAEE board members, individual members, staff members or other stakeholders playing a significant role to keep the association going.
SAEE Service Award
LJ Grobler was born and matriculated in Ermelo, Mpumalanga. He studied at University of Pretoria where he qualified as Mechanical Engineer and also obtained his Masters Degree and PhD in 1995. In 1996 he was appointed as associate-professor at the Potchefstroom University. Since 2012 he is the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the North-West University.
He presented the Certified Energy Manager’s training programme for the first time in 2001 under licensing agreement of the Association of Energy Engineers in the USA and presented it more than 30 times since then. He was instrumental in establishing the SAEE in 2001. In 2007 he introduced the Certified Measurement and Verification programme in SA. In 2007 LJ was elected as the first non-American President of the Association of Energy Engineers in the USA. He authored and co-authored more than 50 international articles on energy topics and also presented more than 70 papers at local and international conferences.
