The Southern African Energy Efficiency Confederation (SAEEC), is excited to announce the opening of nominations for its prestigious Energy Awards for 2017. The SAEE Confederation promotes the implementation of Energy Management and sustainable energy investment and practices that save money and boosts socioeconomic growth within a low carbon trajectory. It is with this goal in mind that we wish to give recognition to those individuals and organisations who work hard to promote sustainable energy consumption and set an example of best practice for others to follow. As the local chapter of the American Energy Engineers who are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year, some of the winning categories will also stand a chance to win the AEE’s international awards in 2018.
We are also pleased to introduce three new categories in recognition of our divisions and membership base. The Energy Services Company Award for ESCO’s provides a special recognition for those aimed at supporting the private and public sector in the implementation of their energy programmes. Our new Females in Energy Award encourages greater participation and advancement of women in energy as an important pillar of economic growth opportunities. Just as importantly, through our new Academia Excellence Award, we recognize the role played by universities and research institutions as the incubator of knowledge, innovation, policy support and skills required to respond to the challenges and opportunities presented by the need for greater resource efficiency.
