Dear Stakeholders,

As you are no doubt aware, the Department of Energy published the draft National Energy Efficiency Strategy (NEES) on the 23 December 2016 for comment. As the SAEE Confederation, we regard this as a very important directive to how all energy users may be impacted and the role each must play in the implementation of Energy Efficiency. This matters both in relation to what Energy Efficiency means for your business and its contribution to South Africa’s Carbon Emission Reduction targets and Nationally Agreed Mitigation Actions.

The SAEE Confederation along with other stakeholder groups, requested an extension of the period for comment. We are pleased to report that this has been granted by the Department of Energy specifically to those who requested this. Although the extension granted is until the end of February, we would like to collate the submissions from SAEE Confederation members. For those of you who were unable to meet our previous deadline, you now have an opportunity to forward your submission to us by close of business on Friday, 10th February 2017. You will find the draft NEES, Appendices and template for submission below. Please submit your responses to

1. Annex A_ Detailed results-based framework.pdf...
2. Annex B_Energy Efficiency Measures.pdf...
3. Annex C_Cost-Benefit Analysis.pdf...
4. Annex D_Basis for Targets.pdf...
5. Annex E_Detailed Implementation Plan.pdf...
