The Southern African Association for Energy Efficiency (SAEE) Awards Programme annually recognises outstanding accomplishments of individuals and companies in the energy industry. The Awards are a token of recognition for the commitment to the profession; desire to further the association's mission, and participation in civic and community affairs. These prestigious Awards were presented at the Annual SAEE Banquet and Awards Ceremony on 11 November 2015 at Emperors Palace, Johannesburg. The event also marked the official opening of the SAEE’s annual flagship event, the Southern African Energy Efficiency Convention (2015SAEEC).

Mr Karel Steyn (SAEE President), Mr Kevin Nassiep
Kadri Nassiep is the Chief Executive Officer of the South African National Energy Development Institute(SANEDI), which is a state-owned company established under the National Energy Act of 2008. The entity reports to the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of South Africa. He holds a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and has over 20 years of experience in the energy sector. He is a mathematical scientist by profession and was initially employed in 1992 by Eskom, the national utility. He was appointed in 1997 as Eskom’s Energy Research Manager, responsible for research in the area of integrated energy systems. In 2003 he joined the Department of Minerals and Energy as the Chief Director for Energy Planning. He was responsible for development of policy, strategy, legislation and regulation supporting the implementation of energy efficiency and renewable energy.
